What has peaked my interest this week? Lots of gorgeous teals and blues... and ELEPHANTS!!! There is just something about these colours which just makes me happy and I am partial to elephants too! This is such a cute, quick dress. It adapts a ladies tee into a toddler dress. Easy-peasy! You can find the tutorial here. These handmade elephants are just adorable, the perfect addition to any nursery... Find the tutorial here While I don't have the floor space personally for these, I just love the conceptView the video tutorial here While this isn't an elephant, it was just too adorable not to add! Find the link here. Sorry for the delay on getting this posted, last night (Friday) the Internet and I were having a disagreement! I do hope you all enjoy them and they encourage you to keep looking and searching for new and fun things to create.

Every market I attend as a stallholder I make sure I purchase something off another stallholder. I do this for a couple of reasons. One - it shares the support and love, and I strongly believe what goes around comes around - and Two - there are so many freakin' talented people out there making some super amazing stuff! I have been posting a photo on my instagram account after each market to show off my purchases, but today I am sharing here too. Today I was at Kingston Beach Handmade Market and another regular there is BJ of Lily & Charlie. Bj started Lily & Charlie in Jan 2013 and since then I have become a regular customer of her jewellery and accessories. Last month she released her soy candle range and I declared on the spot that I would buy one as I was in the need of some new candles and scents... but before I knew it she had sold out! So today I made sure I bought mine early, and chose the every so yummy flavors of "Peach" and "Cocoa Butter". I think I will try out the peach tonight. Reminds me of summer and oh so happy times! Want to join in some market buy fun? Simply post a photo of your market buy to instagram or twitter with the hashtag #mymarketbuy Use the tag anytime you want to show off something awesome you bought at a market! For a little Friday night fun, here are a few goodies to be found in the online world, thanks to my obsession with Pinterest and the thousands of online tutorials I come across each day... Baby Binky Bunnies by mmmcrafts These super cute bunnies with cuddle blanket find themselves at home on one of my Pinterest boards. While their pattern is not free, they are just *SQEEEEE* adorable, and one day I WILL have the time to make some for my little ones... You can find the link here. Little Betty Bag by themotherhuddle Also hiding among my pins is this little beauty! Something about it is so fresh and lovely, and the tutorial is FREE :) Once again, I have not had a chance to make one up yet, but it is now going to the top of my "selfish" to-make list. Find the tutorial and pattern here. Hedgehog Pincushion by maker*land I have NO WORDS. Seriously cuteness overload!!! Find the free tutorial and pattern here. Stretchy Baby Hats, with top knots by Make It & Love It And just for a little cute baby sewing love, baby hats! While these would be far too small for my "little" man now, every little baby needs a cute hat (and we all know SOMEONE with a bub!)... you can find the tutorial and pattern here. Basic Baby Quilt by 30handmadedays And finally, because I love quilting, a simple and fun quilting project for you all to try! Check it out here. The Artful Business Conference was a mind blowing, so here are a few of my musing on what I learnt....The first golden nugget of information I want to talk about is from Jess Van Den of Epheriell and Create & Thrive (definitely follow Jess' blog at C&T for so much great info and advice!) DON'T BE LIMITED BY WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE... OR BY WHO OTHERS THINK YOU ARE - Jess Van Den It is not something we often think about - who and what we are allowing to limit what we do in our businesses. Sometimes you are limiting yourself. And of course, who should we be listening to then, if not the limitations we allow? DO LISTEN TO THE ADVICE OF THOSE WHO HAVE BUILT THE SORT OF BUSINESS YOU WANT - Jess Van Den Simple, right? Someone you look up to in business, who is further along the business path you wish to follow... They are the ones to be looking to. The following was information that gave me my biggest "mind blown" moment of the conference. REMIND YOURSELF OF YOUR CORE REASONS FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO - Tess McCabe When Tess spoke about this on Day 1, I noted it down but it didn't click for me until Day 2 while doing a workshop with Elle Roberts of Studio Exsto. It was in this workshop that it clicked and I just knew what I needed and what my soul longed for within my business. YOUR DREAMS AND VISION WILL SHIFT OVER TIME AND THAT'S OKAY, BUT STAY STRONG ON THE CORE STUFF - Elle Roberts But more on exactly what that meant to me in another post for another day! DON'T LET OTHERS DICTATE YOUR SUCCESS AND INCOME... ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE RICH AND (whatever it is that you keep telling yourself is stopping you from being rich) - Denise Duffield-Thomas Until Denise spoke about money blocks I had no idea what was holding me back. Money and pricing are big scary subjects in the creative world, but as creatives I think we approach the subject all wrong. Julia Bickerstaff of The Business Bakery had just so much practical, fantastic knowledge to share. I was blessed enough to receive her book "How to Bake a Business" (which she signed for me! Woo!!) and also travel back to the airport with her after the conference. My mind is now overflowing with practical, hands on ways I can run my business more efficiently! A HAPPY, SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS MAKES A HEALTHY INCOME - Julia Bickerstaff The "100 day goal" (set yourself a goal to complete in 100 days, the perfect amount of time to not get bored/distracted but long enough to really achieve something) and "Timeboxing" (allocate a set amount of time to complete a task and force yourself to complete it within that timeframe) are just a few of her tips. But the biggest thing that I took away from the conference was everyone is on a journey in their business. No one knows everything, some are just further along in their business journey so have learnt more. We are all always learning and evolving.
Day one of the Artful Business Conference was amazing. Here are just some of my favourite things I took from the amazing speakers today... See the full line up and details of these speakers here: Artful Business Conference |
